An extremely diverse family of plants of approximately 300 species of which about 150 species occur in Southern Africa. They vary greatly in size, from miniature plants to large shrubs of almost 2 metres high. Their foliage shapes and colouring as well as their growth forms are also extremely varied. Crassula bear a profusion of star-shaped flowers which attract butterflies and other insects to the garden. These mostly indigenous beauties are an excellent low maintenance and water wise addition to your garden. Their ease of culture together with their adaptability to grow under a wide range of growing conditions makes them very popular with gardeners and succulent collectors alike. Many Crassula also grow well indoors provided they are given sufficient light.
