Plant Care:

Tips for growing your plant successfully:

Light: Most Cryptanthus prefer growing in partial shade or bright diffused light.

Soil: Cryptanthus are terrestrials and grow in free draining soil with a high humus content. A good quality potting mix with humus and a very small amount of controlled release granular fertiliser added is recommended as a growing medium. Shallow and wide containers are preferable.

Watering: Cryptanthus dislike drying out completely. They enjoy been kept damp. The frequency of watering will vary according to the time of year.

Fertiliser: Cryptanthus respond to a very dilute solution of a balanced water soluble fertiliser applied bi-monthly during the warmer months.

Temperature: Cryptanthus prefer warmer temperatures. However, Cryptanthus are grown in our nursery where winter temperatures regularly drop to 7 degrees Celsius. When growing in colder temperatures we recommend keeping the plants slightly drier than normal.

Please Note:

The plant is currently growing in a 7.5 cm plastic pot. Although our plants are grown under the same conditions and we carefully handpick your plant to ensure the best quality possible, no two plants are identical. The colours of plants can also vary according to the season. The plant supplied will be similar to the plant photographed.
