Plant Care:

Tips on how to grow your plant successfully:

Light: Aeonium prefer a little shade and grow best in morning sun and late afternoon sun with protection from mid-day sun particularly in summer. The green leafed varieties grow well in partial shade.

Soil: Aeonium require soil which drains well. The addition of compost to the planting area is recommended.

Potting: Aeonium grow well in containers. Always ensure that a free draining potting medium is used. Use a good quality succulent soil purchased from a garden centre or you can mix your own by adding fine gravel and perlite to a good quality potting soil. Re-potting of plants is best done in autumn, the beginning of their growing period.

Watering: Aeonium are shallow rooted and require more regular watering than other succulents. Water the plant thoroughly. Allow the plant to drain, then allow the plant to dry out before watering again. Your plant should never stand in a drip tray with water after watering for any length of time. It is always best to pour this excess water off. The watering frequency should be reduced during the summer months. Frequency of watering is always the most difficult cultural point to advise on as there are so many variables which influence it. When in doubt as to whether to water or not it is probably best to rather let the plant dry for another day or two and then water it as over-watering can kill your plant very quickly.

Fertiliser: Aeonium will benefit from applications of a balanced water-soluble fertiliser during autumn and winter. Always use a very dilute solution of ¼ to ½ of the recommended dilution rate.

Temperature: Aeonium should be taken indoors for protection from frost when winter minimum temperatures drop below 0 degrees Celsius.

Please Note:

The plant is currently growing in a 10 cm plastic pot. Although our plants are grown under the same conditions and we carefully handpick your plant to ensure the best quality possible, no two plants are identical. Also the colours of plants can vary according to the season. The plant supplied will be similar to the plant photographed in the 10 cm pot. Photographs of larger plants are for reference purposes only and are not the size of the plants for sale. Although we take extra care when packing our plants, these plants are sensitive and their leaves may become bruised during transit. In time the plants will grow new leaves and gradually shed the older bruised leaves.
